Ongole Highway Murders: Court Sentences 11 To Death Including Munna Bhai May 25, 2021, 13:59 IST
PRAKASAM: The Eighth Additional Sessions Court on Monday awarded the death penalty to the notorious highway serial killer gang headed by Md Abdul Samad alias Munna Bhai and 11 of his gang members. Judge G. Manohar Reddy sentenced 12 people to death, where four were sentenced to life imprisonment and another to seven years in prison.
The main accused Munna Bhai (51) and his gang members were arrested in cases related to ghastly murders and robberies on the national highways in 2008 near Ongole and have been lodged in prison for the past 13 years.
AYODHYA: Even as people in many states are scrambling to get vaccinated, residents of a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district fled their homes and jumped into the river Saryu when a team of health officials reached there to carry out a vaccination campaign on Saturday evening .
Residents of Sisauda village later said they jumped into the river as a rumour had spread in the village that it was not a vaccine but a poisonous injection.
Sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Rajiv Shukla said, “We reached the village with a medical team to vaccinate villagers. However, as soon as they saw us approaching, many of them ran away. When we tried to stop them, they jumped into the river.”
Crews begin SR-86 roadway improvements

Crews closed sidewalks and lanes on State Route 86 at the intersection of Adams Avenue and North Imperial Avenue Monday to begin work on a 1.5-mile road improvement project that is expected to continue for the next two to three months.
The project will cover the section of SR-86/Adams Avenue, just west of Wilson Street, to SR-86/North Imperial Avenue at Treshill Road. Construction will include sidewalk repairs, intersection treatments and thermoplastic striping and markings. Completion is anticipated in mid-August.
